CELTIC knot, HEART, CROCHET
It's been a while now that I've been fascinated by knots, the simple ones and the more complex,
and i just had to integrate it into my wire crochet creations.
I started reading around (thanking the universe for bringing the internet into our lives....) , I found endless sources about Celtic and Chinese knots , apparently I'm not the only one fascinated about them these days, or maybe not just these days.
Although I'm not Irish (at lest as far as I know) , and although my red hair isn't really mine either, i decided I could "adopt" the knotting into my knitting (nice....)
Im trying to figure out WHY, although its not really that important and I think that maybe the fact that knots have been around for thousands of years if not more, simply adds a flavor that only renewed and recycled objects can bring.
or maybe its the simplicity, its one of these things that anyone can do , a universal knowledge.
In the photo is my celtic heart necklace , made of a handmade crocheted chain, (executed in my invisible spool knitting technique) , it is made of fine fine yellow gold filled wire.
more will come in this direction.... I promise :)

Anna, ellipse geomtric wire crochet ring in rose gold
I would like to introduce you with a new ring design, high in the front and low in the back. I came up with it thanks to my cleopatra cuff, introduced not long ago.
I plan to one day put all my design in order, to analyze which intrigued which, im sure it will be inetersting
I hope it don't postpone it too much not sure what i still remember.
Every once in a while I wonder which is abetted strategy, to call my items in descriptive names which is a must for the SEO (search engines) to find me , or give them names that I can relate to, it can take it to a certain period or figure like my cleopatra line .
So for this one i comined both, i strted by clling it just an Ellipse Geometric crochet ring in rose gold, but then I felt something is missing, and I got an urge to call it Anna , I can't really explain why, which Anna, from which book i read lately ?
No idea..... But I hope it will give it good carma.

Crocheted Sea of Gold Wire
In order to help myself let go of my crocheted wire jewelry I sometimes take photos that are more artistic and less descriptive, if i cant have the jewelry at least i can have the memory.
The image above that I call sea of crocheted gold wire was taken thanks to having to make M A N Y crocheted gold drops with a pearl.
I like the impact of multitudes, it adds richness, glitter and movement, it adds effortless mysteriousness.
The sea of crocheted gold wire photo consist of dozens of crocheted drop earrings with a pearl, a classic earring design of mine that was bought in high volumes in the beginning of May around Mothers day thanks to a mention in the daily candy , you can read more about that "event" in my post my-marathon-of-crocheting-wire
cheers,
Yoola

ROSE GOLD crocheted wire jewelry - NEW summer romance
Its Friday afternoon (well it was when i started writing this post )when a wonderful silence goes down on the world, at least on my "time zone"...
I'm not religious but I can feel the specialty of the hour introducing itself. I've had a hectic week as always and a wonderful workshop this morning with the most calm, peaceful and talented girls. It was our first meeting of a beginners group and I enjoyed every minute, it is so enjoyable when my students realize how simple crocheting with angels is and how achievable. until that moment they are usually skeptic if they will achieve the same level of work that they see on my designs, and Yes they can :)
But this is not what I wanted to write about today, I wanted to introduce you with a new love of mine, Rose Gold. A couple of weeks ago I purchased a small spool of rose gold filled wire, some in 0.3mm or 28 gauge (my default favorite wire gauge) and some thicker wire, so I can start exploring its behavior and potential and see if we have a click. I only just started and i can tell - YES YES YES, a summer romance has started blooming. One thing that does worry me is the availability, its not as common as yellow gold filled and many of the clasps and findings i love using are not available in rose gold, well, im not going to give up, i"ll have to tackle it creatively.
The first 2 designs I made are my crocheted pods on a hoop and my jumbo hoops , the pinkish rosiness of the rose gold looks especially wonderful with the grayness of the oxidized silver wire. I would love to hear which other designs you would like to see in rose gold....
enjoy your weekend !

Crocheted wire jewelry - the basics
or in other words, some tips and tricks to better approach crocheting with metal wires.
Wire type -When crocheting with wire its important to pick the right materials, make sure to pick dead soft wire, it looks almost the same as regular wire but the ability to crochet with it is very different.
Wire Gauge - wire projects are often made with higher values, the lowest I use is 28gauge (0.3mm), the higher the no the thinner the wire , the more flexible it is and the jewel will be softer.
Wire temperature - keep in mind that metal changes its flexibility and softens with temperature, enable the wire to warm up a bit before you get into the temp. of crocheting, do a little project before starting the work on the actual piece.
Stretching the wire- another tip to keep in mind is that metal hardens when stretched, so be ware of that and dont put it into too much tension, always prefer techniques in which you dont have to roll the wire around your finger and keep the wire in tension as you do when crocheting with yarn or cotton.
Wire remembers... - Metal has memory, so if you bend it or wrap it, it will remember and will tend to get back into that form.
Hook type - Its important to pick a good crochet hook that wont get worn out too fast, the wire may leave its marks and the hook will not be as smooth as it was when you started working with it, its not enjoyable to work with such a hook , it squeak and gets stuck :)
Edges - when working with metal wires the edges can be a big thumbs down if not handled properly, first of all make sure to wrap it 2 to 3 times in a hidden place before cutting the wire, then I recommend to cut the wire by making it "tired" and not by cutting it with scissors, this way the edges are much softer and the wire is much less noticeable. It is don by moving the wire ןמ circles rapidly until it breaks.
enjoy :)
crocheting with metal wires is awesome !

YoolaCuff is on Marie Claire !!!
I was so excited to learn that my YoolaCuff , a crocheted wire jewelry cuff was on Marie Claire, you can imagine what happened when I could actually flip through the pages when I got my own copy ....
About 2 years ago my silver pomegranates were featured on Elle Decor, which was very exciting, but there is something about these shiny color perfumed pages that moves different cords.

NEW Giant and Jumbo hoops from yoola
It all started with a very dear client of mine that leaves in Texas, she was the first to challenge me with these scales of hoops, not sure I would have gone there if not for her...
When she first ordered the jumbo hoops as a special order I thought this was definitely the biggest I can go, I of course loved it and made a pair for me as well....
Then a couple of weeks later a biggest challenge came in the form of even bigger hoops.
She told me she would wear the jumbo (silver and gold) during week days and the giant on weekends.
The jumbo are 2.4" (6cm) and the Giant are 3.1" (8cm), and I have to admit it is "bigger then life"... but SO chic/unique, impossible to ignore.
If I could through a dime and make a wish I would love to see Penélope Cruz
wearing my giant hoops, who knows it might happened , maybe if i wish hard enough :)
